In the framework of the 2nd Assembly 2021 of the National Association of Mexican World Heritage Cities, the “Alliance for the Resurgence of Tourism” was presented in these unique and unrepeatable destinations in our country.
The Alliance consists of two components: a project formed by UNESCO Mexico and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), which seeks to identify and catapult the potential of exceptional universal values in Mexican Cities. World Heritage, to develop a regional appeal that enables community well-being and sustainable economic development for recovery.
The second component arose from a cooperation between the private, public and civil society sectors, in which the Tourism Secretariats of World Heritage Cities, City Express Hotels, Visit México and Grupo de Comunicación Alchemia join forces to promote these cultural tourism destinations.
Also, with the accompaniment of Héctor Flores Ávalos, Secretary of Government of the State of Durango, a commemorative plaque was unveiled at the City Museum, which shows the commitment of the City of Durango as part of the Camino Real Tierra Adentro Cultural Itinerary, to preserve the historical and cultural legacy as an invaluable heritage, for the benefit of humanity.
