House of the Gandara

To the north of the Plaza de Armas is the Casa de la Gandará. This Viceroyalty building is the oldest of the San Luis Colonial (June 28, 1736), belonged to Don Manuel de la Gandará, uncle of Doña Francisca de la Gandará y Cardona who was the only Viceroyalty born in America after marrying in the Temple of the People of San Sebastian, today Barrio de San Sebastian with Felix Maria Calleja del Rey, Count of Calderón.

During the nineteenth century this building underwent a transformation in its facade, currently housing a beautiful balcony that represents the typical balcony potosina, which was heavily influenced by French styles.

In 1948, its façade was quarried. Inside you can see its arch of three lobes and patio, which is currently the dining room of the restaurant, the Inn of the Viceroy and a staircase that has a stained glass window of the Viceroyes.
