House of Culture Agustín Lara

This is one of the most representative buildings of Tlacotalpan, inaugurated on March 17, 1974, with the aim of rescuing, preserving and disseminating the city’s own expressions of art.

Currently, classes are given in jarocha, classical and contemporary dance, singing, painting, dance, drawing and traditional music, mainly with jarana, harp, requinto and tambourine. It has a small exhibition of the composer and performer Agustín Lara, with albums, prizes, costumes and photographs by the artist.

Among its collection are recently digitized photographs of the life of Agustín Lara, as well as an important collection of paintings by Alberto Fuster, in the room called “Salón de los Rebeldes” where we can find wonderful works such as “Virgilio Declamando”, Prometheus in Chains”, “El Crucificado”, “El Ángel Caído”, “El Descendimiento”, among others.

Schedule: Monday to Sunday from 09:00 to 19:00 hrs.

Location: Venustiano Carranza #43, Centro, C.P. 95460, Tlacotalpan, Veracruz.
